The project Valorization and preservation by digitization of the collections of academic and traditional music from the Republic of Moldova , a premiere in fundamental and applied research in the Republic of Moldova is a synthesis of investigations in the fields of academic and traditional music, ensuring access to information and accumulation of new knowledge about culture and national music and folk music heritage, contributing to the assessment of the real current situation in the field of music and art in the Republic of Moldova.

One of the current problems of contemporaneity lies in the conservation, popularization, research and ensuring free access to the cultural-artistic heritage, within a broad process of identification and scientific-methodological and informational substantiation.

Specialists in the field are actively involved in solving the problems of safeguarding national cultural-artistic values. However, given the impressive volume of musical collections of manuscript scores from various collections and phonograms in the Folklore Archive of the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts, as well as their scattered storage, the process of digital processing of musical materials is barely at the beginning. At the same time, the numerous original sources (manuscripts, recordings and other multimedia materials, etc.) contained in the music archives of the Republic of Moldova remain largely unknown to the scientific, artistic and general public. The fire that occurred in 2020 at the National Philharmonic, destroying a large part of the scores and manuscripts in its library, demonstrated a real danger of loss and destruction of heritage music collections. Thus, it is necessary to speed up and activate the process of digitization of music collections as well as the concentration of academic and traditional musical heritage materials in a digital fund organized according to international criteria and standards. At this stage, the digital processing of materials belonging to one of the important fields of national music is expected - symphonic creations, as well as materials of folk expeditions from the central area of the republic.

The aim of the project is to digitize some objects from the academic musical heritage (symphonic music collections) and traditional, which will contribute to its conservation, capitalization and scientific-practical interpretation.

The general objective is to develop the practice of scientific processing in order to digitize objects from the artistic cultural heritage - collections of academic (symphonic) and traditional music.

As specific objectives of the project are required:

  • Identifying the priorities for selecting and researching musical creations and developing the algorithm for identifying the most representative works;

  • Assessing the physical condition, the degree of research and the possibility of including them in the teaching process and concert practice;

  • Placing the researched creations in the context of the history of national music;

  • Renewal and implementation of complex methods of capitalization, which include textological, bibliographic, archaeological, musicological, ethnomusicological and artistic components;

  • Digital preservation - the actual scanning of musical documents and digitization of audio recordings;

  • Passporting the creations and elaborating the metadata of the musical works;

  • Scientific interpretation of musical documents and materials of the folklore archive during conferences, scientific seminars;

  • Promoting academic and traditional music through various informational and artistic methods (in concert life in the Republic of Moldova and abroad);

  • Stimulating and developing the creative industry in the field of local musical performances by creating the interpretive musical-artistic repertoire support;
